The two praised ensembles will perform again at Maestros de la Guitarra and, while the quartet from Barcelona brings a new version of its acclaimed spectacle “Versus”, Marta Robles and Ekaterina Záytseva present their new show: Rhythms of Sabicas.
The festival Maestros de la Guitarra has revealed, this week, part of its schedule for 2019, and, with, the year’s first two great surprises. In 2020, Maestros will turn 20 years of concerts in Barcelona.
Praised by both critics and public, the spectacle “Versus”, which brings together on stage the guitar masters Xavier Coll, Ekaterina Záytseva, Manuel González and Belisana Ruiz, returns in March to Maestros. One of their big changes, according to the producers of Poema SL, in charge of the festival, will be seen at the concerts at Santa Maria del Pi’s Basilica. The ensemble, from now on, will offer two different shows and, although their performance in the Palau de la Música Catalana will change only a little, at the basilica Barcelona 4 Guitars will interpret a more intimist version of their repertoire, without its gags.
March’s second big surprise is the return of one of the musical projects that we miss the most. Formed by the guitarists Marta Robles and Ekaterina Záytseva, the Dúo del Mar, which recently published its first album – “Bailar las olas”-, is back at the lineup of Maestros to present their new show “Ritmos de Sabicas” (Rhythms of Sabicas), in homage to the master of flamenco guitar, whose premiere, held in the last edition of the festival Flamenco On Fire, was highly praised by the critics. Undoubtedly, it would be a great opportunity to enjoy the artistry of two of the most important guitarists of our times – in the heart of Barcelona.
