Barcelona Guitar Trio returns to the Palau de la Música Catalana, in Barcelona, for another season of shows with the most beautiful guitar repertoire and two internationally-acclaimed Spanish dancers.
When the three internationally-awarded maestros Manuel González, Xavier Coll and Luis Robisco first thought of dedicating a concert to Paco de Lucía fusing Spanish and flamenco guitar they were a bit worried.
Fusing flamenco is always controversial in Spain, just look at the young pop artist Rosalía and all the critics she has been receiving since she joined the music stardom from the so-called flamenco purists. Even the unique geniality of Paco and Camarón de la Isla were first criticized.
But Barcelona Guitar Trio‘s concert in Tribute to Paco de Lucía, which starts now its 5th season as such, has proved to be a tremendous success, seducing both the local public and travellers from around the world who visit the Spanish city.
On stage, they share an evening with two of the most today’s most admired flamenco dancers, José Manuel Álvarez and Carolina Morgado. The group also counts with the percussion of another well-known musician, Paquito Escudero, and their repertoire includes pieces by Paco himself, Manuel de Falla, Federico García Lorca and Astor Piazzolla.
They can be seen throughout the year in the Palau de la Música Catalana – one of Barcelona’s top 3 places everyone must visit -, and at Santa Maria del Pi’s church, the latter in a more intimate version, without dancers and percussion. You can acquire tickets for the best Spanish and flamenco guitar in Barcelona through the website of Maestros de la Guitarra.
